Vahid Jenkouk joined the Engineering Department as a Research Associate in the Flexible Metal Forming project. The aim of this project is to investigate novel closed loop control approach for achieving desired geometrical shapes and material properties in flexible metal forming processes. The research project is a collaboration between the Universities of Cambridge and Oxford, as well as the industrial Partners Siemens VAI, Jaguar Land Rover Limited, and Firth Rixson Limited. In this project Vahid is designing a flexible forming machine. Among other things he is also very interested in metal forming, continuum mechanics, Finite Element Analysis, control engineering and manufacturing technologies.
Vahid previously studied for his PhD at the Institute of Metal Forming in Germany with a focus on the Finite Element Modeling of metal forming processes. His PhD thesis deals with the integration of closed loop control algorithms into FE Simulation of ring rolling processes. Before this, he completed his studies in mechanical Engineering at the RWTH Aachen University in Germany obtaining the German degree “Diplom-Ingenieur” (equivalent to MSc.).
